Institute for the Building Envelope: Biden Should Promote Expanded Energy Efficiency Tax Credits

“Improving energy efficiency is something everyone can get behind – Republican or Democrat, builder or contractor.”

WASHINGTON, DC – The Institute for the Building Envelope (IBE) released the following statement today on President Biden’s State of the Union:

“During his State of the Union address, President Biden talked about his wins for everyday Americans, including the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). One part of the new law that has real implications for everyday Americans is the expanded tax credits that encourage homeowners to invest in home energy efficiency projects and lower their utility bills. Improving energy efficiency through stronger building envelopes is something everyone can get behind – Republican or Democrat, builder or contractor. Now that the IRA is the law of the land, we need to promote this solution so millions of Americans can better insulate and seal their homes, save money on energy bills, and contribute to a cleaner America.”
