SALT LAKE CITY – The Institute for the Building Envelope (IBE) released the following statement today after the Utah Legislature passed HB 0532, to update the State’s residential energy efficiency requirements:
“We are encouraged to see the legislature take action to help Utahns lower their bills and keep their homes warm,” said IBE Board Member Doug Brady. “One of the best ways to increase home energy efficiency is to insulate and air seal the building envelope and that must include attics. This policy should be a blueprint for other states looking to improve home energy efficiency, lower families’ energy costs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”
