Texas Homebuilding Company Makes Spray Foam Insulation a Standard Feature in All New Austin Construction

Citing their mission to build stronger homes that will increase comfort and reduce energy bills for homeowners, Sitterle Homes announced that it will now offer spray foam insulation as a standard feature in all of its Austin Division home communities.

Since 1964, Sitterle Homes has built over 7,000 homes across Central Texas.

“We decided to make this change because it is a huge benefit for our homeowners in terms of energy bill savings, and it’s a longer-term investment,” said Marketing Director Ashely McKee. “At Sitterle we strive to build a strong home and something that lasts for years to come. We found that spray foam insulation is a product that helps achieve that, so we’re very excited to be rolling it out.”

With record-setting temperatures across the country, homeowners are looking to energy-efficient upgrades that will help keep their home comfortable. Spray foam insulation’s innovative properties insulates and air seals home to prevent leaks and keep cool air in and hot air out all summer long.

“If you walk into a house that is pre-drywall but has the spray foam insulation, it is significantly cooler,” McKee said. “You can already feel the impact of the foam before we even have power or air conditioning in the home. It’s like a night and day difference.”

One prominent feature of spray foam insulation is its ability to maintain a cool and constant temperature throughout the entire home, including the attic. Attics with traditional blown-in or batt insulation can experience temperatures as high as 145 degrees in the summer. Because of this, a home’s cooling unit will have to work harder to cool the entire home, resulting in increased energy costs. On the other hand, attics with spray foam insulation stay a few degrees warmer than the occupied space. This one home improvement makes a huge difference in maintaining the temperature of a home, increasing energy efficiency, and lowering energy costs.

Sitterle Homes’ commitment to utilizing building materials that strengthen a home’s building envelope will ensure future Austin homeowners will save money on their energy bills while maintaining a more comfortable and sustainable home.
