IBE Outlook on Spray Foam Insulation in the United States

A recent article in MSN repurposes a story out of the U.K. to headline an issue that is unique to that country and not the United States, where thousands of Americans live in homes with spray foam insulation, save on their energy bills, and can easily get mortgages because of it. More importantly, new homeowners across the U.S. are asking for this type of energy efficiency when they look to buy a new home. Issues that can arise stem from improper installation, not the actual spray foam product. The Institute for the Building Envelope (IBE) is a trade association which aims to promote innovative, multifunctional materials, including spray foam insulation, that can increase energy efficiency, resiliency, safety, and comfort. IBE and its members put an emphasis on contractor training and quality to ensure proper installation so the insulation performs the way it should. We’re proud of the 50+ year track record of spray foam success in the United States, and will continue to promote this innovative building material, preferred by both contractors and consumers. U.S. homeowners seeking to reduce energy bills, increase resiliency, and improve home comfort should continue to look to spray foam as the premium all-in-one solution to insulate and air seal their home’s building envelope.
