Americans can expect their home heating costs to go up an average of 9.2% this winter compared to last year, according to the National Energy Assistance Directors Association (NEADA) and reported by The New York Times.
This increase will result in the average U.S. household spending nearly $1,000 to heat their home this winter. Several factors, including an increase in extreme weather events, grid maintenance, and rapid growth in demand from data centers, are all contributing to this rise in utility costs. In fact, electricity prices are outpacing inflation, increasing to almost 30 percent in the last four years.
